Dr. Patricia Parkerton
MPH, PhD, Co-Investigator, School of Public Health Department of Health Services, University of California at Los Angeles
Dr. Parkerton’s work addresses health care system processes and organizational structure and effectiveness. Her expertise in organizational theory, including the RE-AIM evaluation model, is enhanced by her twenty-year career as a health care administrator. Dr. Parkerton’s research has focused on the mechanisms to deliver medical care and methods to improve quality within physician offices, academic health centers, and managed care plans. She has investigated organizational characteristics that influence the translation of smoking cessation interventions in the Veteran’s Administration system, and is currently Investigator on the RWJF Transforming Care at the Bedside evaluation. She teaches process improvement (QI), management, managed care, and ethics. Dr. Parkerton will provide technical assistance and consultation, particularly in the implementation and evaluation of the Helping Smokers Quit Project.
